Meet the CEO, Nathan Bligh

Recently, we had a chance to sit down with our CEO, Nathan Bligh. During this, we asked him about his vision for the company, future goals and predictions for the future of the industry.

You founded Informatech in 2015, ultimately what gap in the market did your company aim to address?

We saw a need for specialist ICT Testing services that were a level above what was on offer from other organisations. Testers that were technically proficient, commercially astute, experienced in their domain, and security cleared to be able to undertake any work. As we started filling this gap we realised it wasn’t only applicable to Testing, but also to other services as well which is why we have expanded to include Infrastructure and System Engineering, Project Management, and Cyber Security. The fact that we have gone from not existing, to nearly 200 people across more than 30 customers, within 7 years, highlights just how real that need was, and how well we have managed to fill it.

How did you choose the priorities and values that guide Informatech?

This was a really easy one – we chose values that were important to us personally. We chose things that personified us and how we undertake our work and then translated these into values that we expect of everyone within the company. As we’ve evolved our values have evolved slightly, but always with the same central theme:

  • Reliability– Performing consistently and to a high standard at all times.
  • Integrity– Being honest in our interactions and always doing the right thing.
  • Authenticity– Remaining true to our principles and values even when under pressure.
  • Excellence– Striving to constantly improve and be the best that we can be.

When you look back over the last seven years, how do you think Informatech has lived up to your initial company vision?

We’ve met and exceeded everything we set out to do, and it shows by how fast we’ve been able to grow. We continue to see strong demand for our services, not only within Testing but within other disciplines as well, because our Customers see the quality of our work and service delivery and they want more of it.

I’m also proud to say that we have been able to achieve this strong customer satisfaction whilst still maintaining a positive staff culture along the way. We’ve been at the forefront of treating people with respect, valuing technical expertise, remaining responsive to staff needs, and generally acting with empathy and care. We haven’t had to sacrifice the well-being of our staff in order to deliver strong, positive results for our customers.

What would you like Informatech to achieve in the next seven years?

You can expect big things from Informatech over the coming years. We’re constantly evolving, exploring new opportunities, and looking for ways that we can be different. I fully expect to see Informatech continue to grow at an exponential rate, fuelled by our desire and ambition to be better, and recognition by our customers of how we are better.

Here’s a glimpse of a few things that we’ve got going on right now:

  • There is a new, state-of-the-art office being built with dedicated on-site server rooms and computing facilities
  • We’re currently developing 2 bespoke software products – one of which is on the cutting edge of technology and has the potential to be a hugely disruptive force to a large part of the market
  • We’re expanding our product lines to include new domains to further broaden our service offerings and provide a more holistic service to our customers
  • Informatech has begun exploring interstate offices to further support our existing interstate customers as well as grow our national presence
  • We’ve started having discussions with organisations outside of Australia to offer our services internationally for selected products and locations
  • We’ve started acquiring other companies (AGEMA and Briston)to help fuel our growth. This also ensures that we have sufficient depth and maturity to be able to constantly deliver to the high standard that we set for ourselves and that our customers have come to know us for

And finally, what do you predict for the future of the industry?

I can’t envisage a scenario where society will be consuming less technology… Demand for IT services is ever-increasing, and the demand for skilled practitioners is along with it. We will continue to strive to be the best and provide a superior quality of service to our staff and to our customers, ensuring that Informatech remains at the forefront of the industry.
